Counselor Resources
We are thrilled to provide dual enrollment opportunities for your students to earn college credit while still in high school. Key information is outlined below.
ESCC Admissions Application
Students must complete the Admissions Application online before filling out their section of the Statement of Eligibility. Once they finish both the Admissions Application and their part of the Statement of Eligibility, the Statement of Eligibility will be sent to their school counselor for approval. A signed Statement of Eligibility is necessary for the application to be considered complete. For more details, please refer to the Get Started Today page.
Course Registration
Please note: Courses are subject to seat availability, and the Dual Enrollment office cannot guarantee enrollment in any course. Students are encouraged to finalize their applications early to secure their course selections. Course availability for any student is not guaranteed until the Dual Enrollment office has registered the student in the course.
Once a student has been admitted to our program, our office will communicate with them using their alabama.edu email address. At the beginning of each semester, our office will send enrollment verifications to all high school counselors with students enrolled for that term.
Continuous Eligibility
To promote academic success and preparedness among dual enrollment students, the following requirements for continuous eligibility apply to ESCC dual enrollment students:
- Students must earn a grade of C (70) or better in all attempted college courses.
- Students who fail to meet this minimum grade requirement or who withdraw from a course will be suspended from the program for a minimum of one term. This one-term suspension may not be served over the summer.
The students may not re-enroll until the suspension has been served. - For re-entry, the students must reapply to the program and must meet the minimum grade point average requirements.
Dual enrollment students should consult with their school counselor to ensure they are also meeting their school’s continuous eligibility policies.
Cords of Distinction
ESCC Cords of Distinction: Students who complete 15 credit hours of ESCC courses by the end of the Spring semester of their senior year of high school and maintain a 3.5 GPA will qualify. This prestigious award will recognize students’ hard work during their time in high school and the Dual Enrollment program.
