What is Digital Multimedia, and what will I learn?

From high-demand jobs in Alabama’s growing film and TV production industry to game design, the Digital Multimedia AAS degree prepares students to use computerized digital images as well as sound and graphics as the primary medium of expression in the visual and performing arts.

The Digital Multimedia program is designed to assist students in developing a professional portfolio in preparation for entering or re-entering the workforce with strong academic and practical knowledge since designers in this rapidly evolving multidisciplinary field use technology, design, and social awareness to solve visual communication and performing arts design issues. The program also prepares graduates for a variety of careers using multimedia, including graphic design, digital animation, motion graphics, 3D visualization, game, and interactive media design, music and sound design, video production, web design, and photography.

Digital media includes a wide range of platforms, products, and industries. As such, the job market and earning potential for digital media careers varies based on industry, location, work experience, and education, but in general, the outlook is strong. Many digital media jobs, including those below, exist in various industries, including in the public and private sectors. As such, careers in digital media provide the opportunity to work in all sorts of different environments.
