Robert and Kathryn McRae / Rex Lumber Scholarships – ESCC Mechatronics Program
This scholarship is awarded each semester based on availability.
Applicants that are planning to enroll and pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree or a certificate in Mechatronics at Enterprise State Community College.
Each scholarship award will be a one-year scholarship toward 33 semester hours of tuition and/or books and supplies for classes required for the Mechatronics program.
Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 high school grade point average in order to apply for the scholarship and must maintain a minimum 2.5-grade point average each semester enrolled at Enterprise State Community College in order to retain the scholarship.
Recipients will be eligible to reapply for the scholarship for use during the second year of the Mechatronics program. The scholarship donor will consider second-year funding based upon prevailing economic conditions and the student’s performance in the academic program.
Before applying for the scholarship, applicants must first apply online to attend Enterprise State Community College (escc.edu) AND complete the online FAFSA (fafsa.gov).
Scholarship applicants must be submitted before the upcoming semester.
Scholarship recipients that excel in the Mechatronics program may be eligible for a paid internship positions within Rex Lumber Company.
The following items must be submitted with your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- A copy of your high school and/or college transcript(s), or GED documentation. Your GPA entries on the application must match the GPA listed on the transcript(s) exactly. Transcript copies and/or GED documentation must be attached to the scholarship application when submitted.
- A letter must accompany this application containing the following information:
- A little about yourself and your educational plans and career goals
- Why you feel you need help to attend college.
- Your school and community awards/recognitions/achievements and activities
- Extenuating circumstances to be considered by the scholarship committee
- TWO Letters of Recommendations
PRIDE Industries Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
This scholarship is awarded annually during the spring semester for the upcoming academic year. Scholarship applications must be submitted by March 1.
Applicants must have a minimum of 2.5 college or high school grade point average in order to apply for the scholarship.
Each scholarship award will be a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,250.
Scholarship recipients must have a documented Financial Need.
Scholarship recipients must maintain an enrollment status of Full-Time (12 or more hours), or Part-Time (6-11 hours).
Before applying for the scholarship, applicants must first apply online to attend Enterprise State Community College (escc.edu).
The following items must be submitted with your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The E. L. Gibson Foundation Scholarships
The E. L. Gibson Foundation was established for religious, charitable, scientific, literacy, or educational purposes. The Board meets quarterly to award one-year scholarships. These scholarships are restricted to students pursuing courses of study in the health care field. Basic or general courses are not covered unless they are within a course of study in the health care field. Proof of enrollment in an accredited program is required at all levels (Associates Degree, Bachelor Degree, and Medical Degree). These scholarships are also restricted to residents of Coffee, Dale, Covington, and Geneva Counties.
Scholarship Guidelines & Requirements:
First Time Applicants
- Applicant must provide notification of enrollment into a pre-nursing program from an Advisor (ESCC ONLY)
- Applicant must provide PROOF OF ENROLLMENT into an appropriate health-related area of study. A PRINTOUT OF CURRENT CLASS SCHEDULE SIGNED BY COUNSELOR OR COPY OF RECEIPT OF TUITION/FEES PAID will be appropriate. Note: A letter of acceptance into a particular field of study is not acceptable as proof.
- An official high school transcript or GED, and/or transcript from EACH college or university attended.
- Two letters of recommendation addressed to Joan Newman, E.L. Gibson Foundation
- A letter from a health-care professional who can address your commitment to a health-related career.
- A letter from anyone who knows you and can attest to your character, abilities, and qualifications.
- Personal summary: A brief description of what you plan to study, where you plan to study, career goals, and any other pertinent information you wish to include that is not in the application.
- Proof of 2 years residency in the county for which the scholarship is designated (utility receipts, legal papers, or other legally acceptable means of establishing residency).
- Statement of financial need: A brief narrative description of available financial resources and your need for assistance (more detailed information and verification may be required in certain circumstances).
Scholarship Renewals Only
- A letter addressed to Joan Newman, E. L. Gibson Foundation asking for a renewal of your scholarship. Within this letter, include a brief progress report on your studies.
- A transcript of your previous year’s work showing 18 quarter / 12 semester credit hours completed.
Application Deadlines: February 28, May 31, August 31, and November 30
Important Note: Pre-med, optometry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and dentistry are not funded areas of study.
Scholarships are awarded by E.L. Gibson Foundation Board of Directors. Enterprise State Community College serves only as a clearing house for E.L. Gibson applications.
Dr. William L. Mitchell Nursing Scholarship
The Dr. William L. Mitchell Nursing Scholarship has been endowed by the E.L. Gibson Foundation in honor and memory of Dr. Mitchell, a long-time Enterprise physician and member of the Gibson Foundation Board of Directors.
This scholarship, valued at $1,500, will be awarded annually during the spring semester for the upcoming academic year. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must be transferring from Enterprise State Community College to attend an accredited nursing school in the region.
Scholarship applications must be submitted by March 1.
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant MUST provide ALL the information listed below:
- Proof of acceptance into an accredited nursing program in the region.
- An official transcript from EACH college or university attended, including ESCC.
- Personal summary: A brief description of your nursing career goals, including where you plan to study, your commitment to the nursing profession, and any other pertinent information you wish to include that is not in the application.
Statement of financial need: A brief narrative description of available financial resources and your need for assistance (more detailed information and verification may be required in certain circumstances).
