Mental Health Worker
This comprehensive course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin working as an entry-level mental health assistant.
This course helps students prepare to assume an entry-level job as a Mental Health Assistant. Students gain a basic understanding of mental health care concepts, including common mental health disorders, treatment options, and patient care fundamentals. They also build prerequisite knowledge about the role and responsibilities of a Mental Health Assistant throughout the patient care process, so they are ready to practice applying their knowledge in a lab setting.
Skills for Success
Skills for Success delivers rapid, industry-recognized non-credit training at no cost to participants. A unique feature of Skills for Success training is how quickly it can be completed. Part of the training is offered online, with self-paced interactive learning. Upon completing the online portion of the course, students then complete hands-on training with qualified instructors at any of the 24 community colleges around the state. The in-person labs simulate real work experience and test students for mastery of skills. Skills for Success training is offered through the ACCS Innovation Center, a division of the Alabama Community College System.
