November 27, 2024 | ESCC

Dr. Kevin Ammons has returned to Enterprise State Community College to serve as the College’s Dean of Students.

Ammons has about 18 years of experience in administrative positions in higher education, with 16 years total serving in various roles at ESCC. His previous roles at Enterprise State includes Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs Coordinator, Associate Dean of Students and Registrar, and Director of Financial Aid. Prior to his return to ESCC, Ammons served as Executive Director of Student Services at Reid State Technical College and Dean of Students at Central Alabama Community College.

As Dean of Students at Enterprise State, Ammons will serve as the chief student affairs officer and will be responsible for the overall leadership of student services. At ESCC, the Dean of Students provides leadership, management, and supervision of a comprehensive Student Services Division, including recruitment, admissions, financial aid, registration and records, advising services, testing programs, orientation, student support services, career services, an intercollegiate athletic program and student activities program in accordance with appropriate laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

“I truly believe Enterprise State Community College has something for everyone,” Ammons said. “Our foundation was built on serving our community. As Dean of Students, I want to focus on the services we provide our stakeholders. Whether it is our students, parents, community partners or business and industry leaders, we want to provide quality services to meet their needs. If we meet their needs, we will make our community better.”

President Danny Long said he was excited to have Ammons back at Enterprise State in his new role.

“We are happy to welcome Dr. Kevin Ammons back to Enterprise State as our new Dean of Students,” Long said. “He has a long history with this College and has always been one of our strongest supporters. He fully understands our mission to provide needed education and training opportunities for our community, and I know he will do well in his new role here to help us achieve that.”

Ammons said he felt “honored” to return to the Weevil family at Enterprise State.

“I was a student here from 1998-1999,” he said. “I made many lifelong friendships while earning my associate degree. Also, I worked here from 2004-2021, and I had the pleasure to work with so many colleagues who prepared me in my career.

“Whether I was a student or employee, ESCC has been a part of me,” he said. “It is very special to have the opportunity to return to the institution where so many people invested in your life. I am thankful for the opportunity President Long has given me to serve as the Dean of Students. It feels good to return home.”

Ammons started in his new role on Monday, November 18.
